Myofascial Flow - Saturdays in September

What is Myo-Fascial Release?

Myo-fascial release is a technique that uses sustained pressure to break up connective tissue binds in the body. These binds can limit muscle mobility and cause both pain and tension. Fascia is a densely woven connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and all of our internal organs. We build new layers of fascia every night, so if we do not take the initiative to break up these binds, our bodies become tighter and more stuck in our habitual movement patterns. The resulting outcome is tension, knots, pain, and lack of mobility.

In this hybrid Myo-Fascial Flow class, we will begin on the floor with myo-fascial work to help loosen the binds in our fascia. Each week has a different focus, and therefore a different set of movements to help specifically target different areas in the body. Next, we transition to standing and eventually into an all-levels vinyasa section of class, where students will move through a guided flow, sometimes with pauses to add in extra myo-fascial exercises, but mostly to continue the path of opening up the targeted area of the body. We will end class with additional myo-fascial techniques and a final rest in long savasana for a well-rounded class to help integrate your work and prepare you to move forward into your day with a clear mind and open body.

Each class is a $25 drop in

Community Chanting

Sunday September 14, 5-6pm

Join us for a beautiful gathering to share our voice, raise our vibration, and connect with community. We’re excited to gather at the lovely Birch Leaf Chapel in Ester with its stunning artwork and incredible acoustics.

All are welcome to join, no experience necessary, just plan on attending with an open mind and something to sit on. There are benches and chairs available for those who would rather not sit on the floor. Please arrive on time as we will begin promptly at 5pm.

Jacie Sturm will lead the group, beginning with a breakdown what to expect for those new to the experience. You’ll be provided with a list of different chants and a brief explanation of their purpose and/or meaning. It does not matter if you sing well or are completely out of tune as these events are based on vibration and community, so the more voices the more powerful the experience. Instruments (especially percussion instruments) are welcome and encouraged to amplify the power of our voices, so feel free to bring any noise makers that speak to you.

A $20 cash donation is suggested (cashless donations can also be made to @jacie-sturm), but not at all required to attend. If you have any questions and/or you’d like to be added to the mailing list with info on future chanting events, please email fairbankschanting@gmail.com
